Bus routes in Birmingham

Quick answer

On route 33 the cab calls Price Street, then Moor Street Queensway for Moor Street Interchange. Stay in the left lane.

Price Street from the bus cab

The double-decker job is the stop order, not the shortest line through the centre. Two routes are called out often enough to learn by name.

The route board also lists stops the cab does not number onto 33 or 16: Corporation Street, Six Ways Aston, Miller Street, Snow Hill, Great King Street, and Colmore Circus. Miller Street is a marked bus road. Snow Hill is the station, not the Moor Street call.

Route 33 — Birmingham City Centre

The call is "33 to Birmingham City Centre". On that run the next stops named in the cab are:

OrderStop the cab calls
1Price Street
2Moor Street Queensway, for Moor Street Interchange

Stay in the left lane. The interchange is the Moor Street rail station, not New Street and not Snow Hill. If the cab says Moor Street and you are still hunting the New Street frontage, you are at the wrong station.

A late clock on this route usually means a missed stop or a lane change, not a missing shortcut. Cutting the Queensway to save the two minutes drops the stop the job is scoring.

Route 16 — Bull Ring Markets

Route 16 is the Bull Ring Markets run. Treat the markets as the south side of the centre, with New Street on the other side of that block. Do not fold 16 into the 33 stop list. Price Street is a 33 call. The markets are the 16 landmark.

How a shift should feel

The blind stays in service for the whole route. You stop where the cab names the stop, then you take the next call. Finishing routes is what unlocks further vehicles. A shift that never hears a stop name is a drive, not a bus job.

If the wanted level climbs mid-route, finish or abandon the shift before you argue with the police car. The chase is on the police page. It does not replace the stop you still owe.
